Tornados Conclude Road Trip with 79-65 Defeat in Rocky Mount

Regular Season Concludes on Saturday, February 17 at 4 p.m,

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The Brevard College men's basketball team (13-11, 8-5 USA South) fell 79-65 to North Carolina Wesleyan University (14-10, 8-5 USAS) on Sunday afternoon in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. 
 
Quincy Carter led the Tornados with 16 points with three made 3-pointers, while Kavan Horton contributed 15 points, six rebounds, four assists, and four steals. The duo combined for 31 of BC's 65 points. 
 
NC Wesleyan had a commanding 48-25 edge on the glass, and attempted 32 free throws to just 16 for Brevard. The hosts logged 16 second-chance points, 44 points in the paint, and 17 fastbreak points. 
 
The Battling Bishops were led by Marquis Eskew, who led four double-digit scorers with 17 points. Kyron Kelly added 14 points and nine rebounds, while Austin Manley (11 points) and Omari Bolden (10 points) also reached double figures. 
 
Both sides traded buckets and stops through the first 10 minutes of the first half, as BC held a 19-17 edge at the 10:59 mark following a layup from Sly White. NC Wesleyan used a 13-2 scoring run to open up a nine-point lead, 30-21, with 5:43 left to play in the first half. BC cut the deficit back down to four points, 34-30, but the hosts scored six unanswered points to take a 10-point lead into the intermission. 
 
The Battling Bishops set the tone early in the second half, as the Tornados were never able to get closer than 11 points as NC Wesleyan picked up the crucial 79-65 victory. 
 
The Tornados return home for the regular season finale on Saturday, February 17 at 4 p.m. to host William Peace University. Four Tornados - LB Boyette, Carson Evans, Charles Reed, and Sly White - will be honored in a special pre-game Senior Day ceremony.
