DEMOREST, Ga. – The Brevard College women's tennis team (1-2) fell 9-0 to Piedmont University (3-1) on Tuesday afternoon at the Burgen Tennis Court in Demorest, Georgia.
Brevard hung around in the doubles portion of the contest, especially in number-two doubles where
Brooke Garland and
Sophie Trantham took Piedmont;s Brooklyn Bolch and Alyssa McSpadden down to the wire, with the Lions winning in a deciding 7-3 tiebreaker set.
After falling 6-0 in the first set of her top-flight singles match, junior
Hannah Hersh battled back with a 6-2 win in the second set. However, Marion Sloyan finished off with a 10-5 win in the tiebreaker to earn the match win.
The Tornados return to action on Wednesday, March 6 at 2 p.m. when Brevard visits Maryville, Tennessee to battle Maryville College.
