BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College women's tennis team (1-3) fell in a tight 6-3 decision to Asbury University (2-0) on a warm Thursday afternoon at the McCoy Tennis Complex.
 
Brevard won doubles 2-1, but fell in five out of six singles matches as Asbury completed the comeback attempt.
 
BC's two doubles wins came at the number-two and three positions, as Brooke Garland and Sophie Trantham won their match at the second position 8-5, while Jada Ore and Gracie Spangler cruised 8-3 in the number-three spot.
 
BC's number-one doubles duo of Madison Bowen and Hannah Hersh dropped a thrilling top-flight doubles match, 8-7, with an 8-6 tiebreaker deciding the bout. Brevard took a 2-1 match lead into singles action.
 
Asbury was able to storm back, picking up wins in no. 1,2,3,5, and 6 singles to clinch the match win as a team. Trantham took care of number-four singles handidly, 6-0, 6-2.
 
Brevard is back in action on Friday, March 15 when the Tornados take on Truett-McConnell University at 1 p.m. in Cleveland, Georgia.
