DEMOREST, Ga. – The Brevard College men's tennis team (0-5) fell to Piedmont University (4-2), 9-0, on Thursday afternoon in Demorest, Georgia at the Burgen Tennis Courts.
The Tornados fell behind 3-0 followind doubles play, and the Lions were able to sweep singles action to finish the 9-0 team victory.
BC's number-one doubles duo of
Bryce Bernitt and
Hayden LeBlanc fell 8-4 in the top flight match, while
Noah Lewis and
Brian Seon also fell 8-4 in the number-three doubles match. Piedmont took an 8-1 victory in the second-seeded doubles contest featuring BC's
Peter Bresko and
Devin Horton.
The closest singles match of the afternoon was Bernitt's number two singles matchup vs. Charles Parnell. Parnell edged Bernitt 7-5 in the first set before scoring a 6-2 second set win to wrap up the win. In the five other singles contests, Piedmont was able to outscore the Tornados, 60-11.
Brevard returns back to action alongside the women's team on Wednesday, March 6 at 2 p.m. in Maryville, Tennessee as the Tornados take on Maryville College.
