ATLANTA – The Brevard College women's lacrosse team (2-4) fell to host Oglethorpe University (7-2) 21-3 on Wednesday evening in Atlanta, Georgia.
 
Three different Tornados scored the three goals for Brevard as Xan Hill, Audrey Hanson and Paige Kneubuhler each found the back of the net.  Arianna Casertano and Emily Denaga both recorded assists.
 
Defender Cassidy Hutto led BC with four ground balls.  Freshmen Kyla Smith-Fondall and Amelia Fuentes split time in goal.  Smith-Fondall came up with five saves, while Fuentes registered three saves.
 
Oglethorpe's Tori Perez earned the win in goal for the host team.  Ally Moir led the Stormy Petrels offensively with seven goals and one assist.
 
The Stormy Petrels scored first on the opening possession of the game, then the two teams remained scoreless for the next two minutes.  Casertano then set up Hill for the score to tie the match at 1-1.
 
Oglethorpe went on to hold Brevard scoreless until the fourth period.  With 11:01 to play in the fourth, Hanson scored an unassisted goal to end the scoring drought.  It marked the first goal in a Tornado uniform for the transfer from Benedictine.
 
With just over six minutes to play, Kneubuhler scored off an assist from Denaga to give BC its final goal of the contest.
 
Brevard returns to action with its USA South Conference opener vs. William Peace University on Saturday.  Start time is slated for 11 a.m. at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
