MONTREAT, N.C. - The Brevard College Track & Field program continued to post impressive results in its 2024 campaign at the Montreat Invitational held Friday and Saturday in Montreat, North Carolina.

The Brevard women's team finished 12th out of 22 teams. On the men's side, the Tornados placed 13th of 24 teams competing.

BC sophomore
Makayla Street won the women's high jump to capture the first individual championship for the Tornados this season. Street recorded a jump of 1.57 meters to take the high jump title. Street also finished 17th in long jump with a mark of 4.83 meters.

Senior
Channing Barker continued her success this season with a top-five and a top-10 finish. Barker placed fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:21.83, while finishing 8th in the 1500 meters with a 4:53.57.

Junior
Haylea-Layne Miller gave BC another top-ten with a seventh-place result in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:19.53. Miller also ran in the 100-meter hurdles, placing 15th. She rounded out her weekend with a 24th place mark in the high jump.

Isabell Musser, a senior from Brevard, North Carolina, led the Tornados in throws. Musser placed sixth in the shot put with a throw of 11.23 meters. She also came through with a 17th place mark in discus and a 26th place score in javelin.

Brevard's women's 4x400 relay team placed fifth at the event. Freshman
Karis King and junior
Sandra Diaz-Martinez ran the first two legs of the relay. Miller then raced in the third spot with Barker anchoring the relay for the Tornados.

Jaxsen Wilkerson again showed his versatility for the Tornados, competing in three events on the men's side. Wilkerson finished third in the triple jump, recording a 13.88 meter mark. He then placed fourth in the long jump, leaping 6.62 meters. Wilkerson rounded out his weekend with a 12th place finish in the 100-meter hurdles.

Kellun Triplett also competed, garnering a 13th place result as did BC's
Reggie Taylor II (19th) and
Antonio Damalos (26th).

Senior
Garrett Spangler led BC's distance runners with a time of 33:34.98, good for seventh place in the 10,000 meters.

BC's
Devon Brodmyer raced in both the 800 and 1500 meters. Brodmyer placed 15th (1:58.50) in a field of 87 runners in the 800 meters and 24th (4:08.80) in the 1500.

In throws,
Noah Westbrook threw a 12.16 to place 21st in shot put and
Henry Tarte placed 28th (37.61 meters) in discus.
