MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Freshman number-one singles competitor
Hayden LeBlanc earned a win at the top-flight singles position in Brevard College's (2-10, 1-2 USA South) 8-1 defeat at Pfeiffer University (9-3, 3-1 USAS) on Monday afternoon at the Knapp Tennis Center in Misenheimer, North Carolina.
LeBlanc, a first-year Tornado from Zachary, Louisiana who was named to his third USA South Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week accolade of the 2023-24 season on Monday, defeated Pfeiffer number one Benedikt Pfeiffer in a thrilling tiebreaker after taking the first set 6-4 and falling in set number two, 7-5. The third-set tiebreaker went in LeBlanc's favor, 10-8, as he secured the top-flight win.
PU was able to dominate the rest of singles play, outscoring BC 60-4 in the two-through-six spots. The hosts kicked things off with three-consecutive wins in doubles, with LeBlanc teaming up with
Bryce Bernitt in a narrow 8-5 defeat to Pfeiffer and Mathius Dessureau at the number-one doubles spot.
BC is back at the McCoy Tennis Complex on Saturday, taking on Mary Baldwin University at 11 a.m. in a doubleheader with the women's squad.
