BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College track & field program hosted its inaugural Tornado Classic at the Frank Patton Track on the BC campus throughout the day on Friday.
Sophomore men's jumper and sprinter
Jaxsen Wilkerson recorded a mark of 14.22m in the Men's Triple Jump, vaulting the Granite Falls, North Carolina native into the top 15 nationally at the NCAA DIII level.
Early in the day, BC's
Isabell Musser competed in the Women's Hammer Throw with a mark of 23.29m, while
Henry Tarte (29.65m),
Dakota George (28.46m) and
Noah Westbrook (26.68m) all competed in the Men's Hammer Throw. BC was well-represented in the Javelin events, with six Tornados competing in the Men's Javelin, highlighted by Wilkerson's 38.87m mark. Musser (31.00m) and
Mary Vallentine (19.59m) represented BC in the Women's Javelin.
Musser (33.66m) and Vallentine (21.65m) competed in the Women's Discus, while five Tornados took part in the Discus Throw on the men's side, with Tarte (34.53m) leading the pack. Westbrook set a new PR in the Men's Shot put with a 13.24m mark, while Musser threw 11.80m on the women's side, concluding throws action.
Makayla Street (1.50m) and
Channing Barker (1.45m) represented BC in the Women's High Jump, while
Imani Singleton (4.76m) participated in the Women's Long Jump. Wilkerson (6.79m),
Kellun Triplett (6.39m), and
Antonio Damalos (5.32m) took part in the Men's Long Jump.
Tripplett joined Wilkerson in the triple jump, registering a 13.61m mark alongside the top-15 national finish for Wilkerson, concluding the day's Field events.
Track action picked up following a special mid-day ceremony, first honoring the site's namesake as Frank and Donna Patton were honored by BC, and then a special Senior Day ceremony took place as BC's senior class of Barker,
Devon Brodmyer,
Zoe Capps,
Justin King, Musser, and
Garrett Spangler were all honored.
Sandra Diaz-Martinez took part in the Women's 3,000m Steeple Chase, finishing in 14:06.23. BC's Women's 4x100m Relay squad finished in 52.13, with BC fielding two teams in the Men's 4x100m Relay. King represented the Tornados in the Men's 1500m Race.
The Tornados were well-represented in the Women's 400m, as Barker served as the race's top finisher at 1:01.20.
Owen Plucar finished the Men's 400m in 53.77.
Makayla Street won the Women's 100m in 13.26, and
Reggie Taylor II ran the Men's 100m in 11.78. Barker represented Brevard and won the Women's 800m in 2:22.76, and King won the Men's 800m with a time of 2:14.09.
Haylea-Layne Miller ran the Women's 400m Hurdles for BC in 1:19.99, and
Seth Robinson participated on the men's side with a time of 1:10.45. Tornado trio of Street (27.89), Singleton (30.91) and
Kayla Jean (31.91) spearheaded BC in the Women's 200m.
Devon Brodmyer capped the event off with a win in the Men's 5,000m.
The Tornados are back in action next Friday and Saturday, April 19-20 at the Catamount Classic hosted by Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina at the Catamount Athletic Complex.
