RALEIGH, N.C. - The Brevard College softball team (6-22, 0-8 USA South) concluded a weekend USA South Conference road trip with a pair of losses to Meredith College (15-15, 6-6 USAS) on Sunday afternoon in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Meredith took both games in five innings by final scores of 8-0 and 8-0.
GAME ONE: MEREDITH 8, BREVARD 0
MacKenzie Wilborne and Peyton Wise recorded BC hits in game one, while Grace Reynolds got the start in the circle for Brevard. The hosts established an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first, and added five more runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the eight-run win in five innings of action.
GAME TWO: MEREDITH 8, BREVARD 0
Logan Masinsky started game two for Brevard in the circle for Brevard, lasting three innings before Reynolds came on to work the fourth frame, surrendering an unearned run.
Meredith tacked on a run in the bottom of the first, while each team was scoreless in the second inning. The Avenging Angels broke it open with a six-run third inning, and scored a run in the fourth to pass the run-rule threshold.
For the first time in 2024, Brevard was held without a hit, as Lillie Davis recorded the five-inning no hitter despite five walks issued.
The Tornados return to play at home on Tuesday, taking on Salem College in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
