BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College men's lacrosse team (2-13, 0-7 USA South) fell 24-3 to Piedmont University (13-2, 7-1 USAS) on Wednesday evening at Ives-Lemel Family Field in the final home contest for the Tornados of the 2024 campaign.
Parker Corbett scored two of BC's three goals, with Atticus Cooper adding a goal and an assist. Michael Peters dished out a pair of assists and grabbed five ground balls for Brevard as well. Freshman LSM Tyler Cameron grabbed a team-best seven ground balls and added three caused turnovers, bringing his season totals to 87 ground balls and 32 caused turnovers - both of which are team highs. Peters, Nick Charania, and Jacob Gravely all registered a pair of caused turnovers as well. Junior goalkeeper Jack Hicks played all 60 minutes and made 13 saves.
Piedmont's offense exploded for 24 scores, as the Lions were facilitated by Brady McGuire who scored three goals and matched a USA South Conference Men's Lacrosse record with 10 assists for 13 points in the game. Michael Anderson scored six goals, while Isaac Harrington added a hat trick of three goals. Eleven different Lions tallied goals in the game, with Anderson leading all Piedmont players with seven ground balls and three caused turnovers, with John Dieterly (16-for-21) and Noah Glenzinski (10-for-10) both winning double-digit faceoffs.
Piedmont outshot BC 67-25, but each side had more than 25 turnovers total. Piedmont's defense forced BC into a 15-for-32 clear attempt mark, and the Lions scooped up a grand total of 66 ground balls and won 26 of the game's 31 faceoffs.
Brevard's season will conclude on the road Saturday at 1 p.m. vs. LaGrange College in LaGrange, Georgia.
