BC Concludes Season with Defeat to Nationally Ranked Pfeiffer

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College softball team (6-31, 0-18 USA South) dropped both games of a doubleheader to no. 12 ranked Pfeiffer University (38-2, 16-2 USAS) on Saturday afternoon in the regular-season finale at the BC Softball Field.

Prior to the doubleheader, graduating seniors Cassie Plemmons and Grace Reynolds were honored in a special ceremony where they each received the Brevard College scholar-athlete stole.  The stoles, which the graduates will wear at graduation in two weeks, are designated for graduating seniors with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher in their collegiate academic career.

On Saturday, the nationally ranked Falcons won 10-1 in game one of the doubleheader with BC scoring a run in the bottom of the fifth.  In game two, Pfeiffer won 8-0 in the run-rule victory.

Game One – Pfeiffer 10 Brevard 1

Center fielder Karley Queen registered a RBI-single and left fielder Ive Leighton scored a run to combine for BC's lone run on the day.  First baseman KateLynn Olive and designated player Regan Winkler also each recorded base hits.

Pfeiffer was led by Gracie Griffin who went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and three RBIs.  Starting pitcher Kali Morton earned the win after allowing one hit and striking out seven in four innings pitched.

Reynolds started the game for Brevard and went the complete five innings in the circle.

Game Two – Pfeiffer 8, Brevard 0

Outfielder MacKenzie Wilborne recorded BC's lone hit, while second baseman Rylee Locklear reachd base via a walk and stole a base for the Tornados offensively.

In the circle for Pfeiffer, Morton (19-1) was outstanding in allowing one hit and recording 10 strikeouts in five innings en route to her second win of the day.

Reynolds entered the game in relief of starter Logan Masinsky and pitched the game's final 3.1 innings.  Reynolds impressed by allowing three runs on five hits and recording a 1-2-3 fourth inning.
