MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Brevard College women's tennis team (5-5, 2-2 USA South) fell 7-2 on the road to Pfeiffer University (11-3, 3-3 USAS) on Wednesday afternoon at the Knapp Tennis Center in Misenheimer, North Carolina.
BC's number-two doubles unit of
Madison Bowen and
Brooke Garland secured a point for Brevard in doubles action, defeating Alison Sloop and Riley Isley 8-5, but the Falcons took the early match lead with victories in the other two doubles slots to take a 2-1 match edge in singles play.
BC junior
Hannah Hersh earned a thrilling win in a third-set tiebreaker at the number-one line, coming back after falling in the first set 4-6 to win the second set 6-4 and dominate the tiebreaker, 10-4. However, Pfeiffer would answer back with win in all of the other singles spots to earn the 7-2 team victory.
Brevard returns home to face Mary Baldwin University on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the McCoy Tennis Complex.
