BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College women's tennis team (6-5, 3-2 USA South) swept conference foe Mary Baldwin (1-7, 0-4 USAS) 8-0 on a sunny Saturday afternoon at the McCoy Tennis Complex.
The tandem of
Sophie Trantham and
Jada Ore cruised through number one doubles with an 8-1 victory.
McKenna Deets and
Savannah Anderson made their debut for Brevard in number two doubles. The combo of Anderson and Deets were victorious with an 8-6 win.
In singles play,
Hannah Hersh led the way for the Tornados, winning 6-0, 6-2 in the number one slot.
Gracie Spangler (no. 2),
Madison Bowen (no. 3) and Deets (no. 5) all won their singles matches without giving up a single game. Graduate student
Brooke Garland won number four singles (6-0, 6-2), while Anderson was victorious in number six singles by default.
The Tornados return to action on Wednesday, April 10 with a non-conference match at Maryville in Maryville, Tennessee.
