BREVARD, N.C. - Brevard College senior guard
Josie Hester drained a BC NCAA-era record nine 3-pointers and broke her own DIII-era record with 35 points as the BC women's basketball team (10-3, 5-1 USAS) ran past Methodist (8-6, 4-2 USAS) on Friday afternoon at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
Hester, a second-year Tornado from Huntersville, North Carolina, set a new career high with 35 points on 11 made field goals - including a program-record nine made 3-pointers to surpass BC alumna Annalee Bollinger's eight (11/29/2017). Hester also hit all four of her free throw attempts and added four rebounds, two assists, a block, and a steal.

Naliyah Boyce scored 10 points with seven rebounds, while Jada Perry-Wilkins also reached double figures with 10 points and eight boards.
Lexi Shepard scored eight points, dished out five assists, and matched her single-game career high with six steals.
Methodist's Korin Gladden (12 points) and Alyssa Shazer (11 points) each reached double figures for the Monarchs off the bench. Kayleen Grullon added nine points and six rebounds as MU's second unit outscored BC's 40-9.
Brevard shot a highly-efficient 51% from the field and made 11 of its 24 3-point attempts (46%). BC won comfortably in spite of committing 25 total turnovers in the contest. Methodist had a slight 34-30 edge in points in the paint, put up 15 second-chance points thanks to 16 offensive rebounds, and totaled 16 steals. Brevard held a 42-34 edge on the glass and recorded assists on 22 of its 28 made field goals.
BC opened up a 19-10 lead after the first quarter of play and carried a double-digit lead, 37-27, into the halftime intermission. Brevard made seven of its 11 3-pointers in the first half, with Hester recording 19 points with five made 3's through the first 20 minutes of action.
BC extended its lead out to a game-high 19-point margin, 48-29, and outscored the Monarchs 19-16 in the third quarter to take a 13-point margin, 56-43, into the fourth period. Hester broke the single-game 3PM record at the 6:29 mark off an assist by
Makenna Parkins, and the Tornados cruised to the 15-point victory, 74-59.
The Tornados continue their four-game homestand next Wednesday, January 15 as Pfeiffer visits The Bosh for a 7 p.m. tip.
