Second Half Strikes Send Tornados to 14th Win in a Row

BCWS Finds Second Half Winner, Continues to Roll

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College women's soccer team (14-0) broke through with a pair of goals in the second half to keep its win streak alive, defeating Johnson and Wales-NC (7-7) with a 2-0 result on Tuesday evening at Ives-Lemel Family Field.

After over 60 minutes of scoreless action, senior forward Mikayla Zvekan broke through with her 16th goal of 2025 off an assist by senior defender Schuyler Pettibone. In the final seconds of the match, sophomore forward Kinlee Mozley put in her 10th goal of the year off sophomore midfielder Mikayla Rubin's 10th assist. Goalkeeper Abby Nunez kept her third solo clean sheet and seventh overall this campaign, making a pair of saves en route to her 10th victory in goal.

BC had a commanding 21-5 shot edge, including a 9-2 shot-on-target mark, even though the Tornados were held without a first-half goal for only the second time in 2025. Zvekan, the leading shot-taker in the USA South Conference, added eight more attempts to her ever-growing 2025 tally.

Allison Bryman made a total of seven saves for the Wildcats to keep JWU within striking distance for the entirety of the match. Conversly, BC's defense made several key stops down the stretch to deny the Wildcats of an equalizer.

Tuesday's winning effort extends Brevard's unbeaten streak to 32 matches dating to the end of the 2023 season — the third-longest active streak in NCAA Division III women's soccer and fourth-longest active streak across all divisions of NCAA women's soccer. Through 14 matches this fall, the Tornados have outscored opponents 63-3 and continue to rank among the nation's statistical leaders both individually and as a team. BC's 14 wins to start the 2025 campaign give the Tornados far and away the best start to a season in program history during the NCAA era.

A potential USA South Conference Regular Season Champion could be crowned this weekend, as the Tornados head to Buena Vista, Virginia to take on Southern Virginia on Saturday at 1 p.m.
