Brevard College’s Matheus Mateus Selected for NCAA DIII Student Immersion Program

WASHINGTON D.C. – Brevard College senior Matheus Mateus was selected for the NCAA Division III Student Immersion Program, taking place from January 13-16, 2026 in Washington D.C. in conjunction with the NCAA Convention.

"We are very excited for Matheus and grateful for this program from the NCAA to allow students this opportunity," stated Associate Vice President for Athletics Dr. Myranda Nash. "His campus involvement has been exemplary, and this program will expose him to aspects of the NCAA that can only be experienced firsthand."

The program introduces Division III student-athletes to governance, mentorship, and career pathways across intercollegiate athletics through DiSC training, small-group learning, and networking with administrators and coaches. Mateus will become the fourth BC student to participate in the Student Immersion Program since the Tornados joined DIII, joining BC alumni Diana Loaiza, Josh Romero, and JaMarcus Walker.

"I am thrilled and honored to be able to attend the NCAA immersion program," commented Mateus. "I want to thank the entire Department of Athletics and Communications at Brevard College, without whom this would not have been possible. I have a fantastic team behind me in the work I have been doing, and I am very grateful to them for giving me the opportunity and support to do my job and gain valuable experience."

Throughout convention week, Mateus will attend education sessions, connect with NCAA staff and campus leaders, and participate in guided reflections designed to translate insights into action on campus.
