BREVARD, N.C. — Analee Morris scored a game-high 21 points and Olivia Miller added 18 points and 13 rebounds as the Brevard College women's basketball team (8-3, 3-1 USA South) pulled away in the second half for an 82–60 USA South Conference victory over Methodist on Wednesday afternoon at Boshamer Gymnasium.
Brevard built a 38–26 halftime lead before outscoring Methodist 22–12 in the third quarter to seize control. The Tornados extended the margin to as many as 26 points in the second half and never allowed the Monarchs to get closer than 20.
Morris was highly-efficient from the line, going 10-for-10 on free throws, and added five assists. Miller finished 9-of-16 from the field and controlled the glass with a game-high 13 rebounds. Jada Petty-Wilkins chipped in 11 points and five steals, while Kayden Johnson added eight points and two blocks.
Malayka Rankin provided a spark off the bench with 15 points, knocking down three 3-pointers for Brevard. The Tornado shot 92 percent (23-of-25) from the free-throw line and forced 21 Methodist turnovers.
Methodist was led by Nyleiah White's 12 points off the bench. Korin Gladden posted nine points and nine rebounds, and Kayleen Grullon finished with 10 points. The Monarchs shot 35.4 percent from the field and were limited to 20 percent from 3-point range.
Brevard outscored Methodist 27–14 in points off turnovers and got out in transition with 14 fast break buckets. BC only turned the ball over nine times, which is a season low.
BC will enjoy the Christmas break before returning to action with the first of its two NCAA D1 exhibitions, traveling to Asheville, N.C. to face UNC Asheville on Monday, Dec. 29 at 6 p.m.
