Tornados Finish 2025 with Pair of NCAA DI Exhibitions

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College women's basketball team competed in a pair of exhibitions against NCAA Division I opposition on Monday and Tuesday, December 29-30 to close out the 2025 calendar year.
 
Brevard fell by a final of 84-31 to UNC Asheville on Monday at Kimmel Arena before dropping a 110-54 decision to Furman on Tuesday at Timmons Arena.

UNC Asheville (5-8) used a big second half, including a dominant 20-0 scoring run over the final 11 minutes of play to close the door on the victory over the Tornados.
 
Senior guard Jada Petty-Wilkins scored a team-high 12 points with four made field goals and three 3-pointers. Analee Morris added five points with a 3-pointer and two made free throws, joned at the five-point mark by Malayka Rankin and Kennedie Noble. Kayden Johnson also got on the scoresheet for BC with four points, and hauled down a team-best seven boards. Olivia Miller added six rebounds as the Tornados snatched 31 as a team.
 
UNC Asheville was paced by three double-dight scorers in Nia Green (19 points), Aileen Marquez (13 points), and Kristen McMillan (13 points). Deb Orianegbena controlled a game-high nine rebounds and Journee McDaniel was a defensive catalyst with three steals and two blocked shots.
 
The Bulldogs shot 45% from the field and hit eight 3-point jumpers, with the Tornados canning six long-range baskets of their own.
 
FURMAN 110, BREVARD 54
 
Furman (7-7) opened up the contest by outscoring the Tornados 28-16 in the first period before surging toward a 55-27 halftime advantage. The Palidans shot 60% (12-of-20) from the field in the first quarter and hit four 3-point baskets. Conversley, BC went 50% from the field in the first stanza and hit three of its seven 3-point attempts.
 
The hosts dominated in the third quarter, outscoring the Tornados by 19 en route to the 110-54 triumph.
 
Petty-Wilkins once again led the charge for the Tornados, scoring 19 points with seven made field goals including a pair of 3-pointers and three free throws. Miler hauled down a team-best 10 boards, while Christena Rhone scored nine points with three made 3-pointers.
 
Furman had six players score in double figures, with Clare Coyle registering a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. Lauren Bailey hit five 3-pointers for 15 points, while Raina McGowens and Alyssa Ervin each scored 13 points apiece. Sophie Pearl hit four 3-pointerrs for 12 points off the bench, and Kyraha Parnell also reached double figures with 10 points. Overall, 12 different Palidans scored buckets.
