BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College women's basketball team (9-3, 4-1 USA South) kicked off 2026 with a bang, gliding past Meredith (2-8, 1-4 USAS) 90-60 on Saturday afternoon at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
Jada Petty-Wilkins (22 points, four 3-pointers made) and Kayden Johnson (18 points, six rebounds) led the charge for Brevard, combining for nearly half of BC's offensive production. BC's bench posted 34 total points, the Tornados hit 11 3-pointers, and Brevard assisted on 24 of its 33 field goals.
BC scored 27 on 53% shooting from the field and four 3-pointers in a fast-paced first quarter, as the Tornados held a nine-point lead, 27-18. Brevard's defense stifled Meredith in the second quarter, holding the Avenging Angels to single digits as the Tornados took a 45-27 edge into halftime.
Brevard outpaced Meredith by 14, 25-11 in the third period to put the game away as the Tornados cruised towards the 30-point victory.
BC visits Mary Baldwin next Tuesday, January 6 at 2 p.m. in Staunton, Va.
