LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Brevard College women's tennis team (2-0) swept every available match to take a 7-0 victory over host LaGrange (1-3) on Saturday afternoon in LaGrange, Georgia.
The Tornados dominated the event, outscoring the Panthers 66-4 in games across the day's six singles and three doubles matches.
The day opened with a 3-0 sweep in doubles play as the team of Jada Ore and Gracie Spangler won for the second straight day with a 6-0 victory in number two doubles. The all-freshman team of Abbie Zylka and Casey Wampler did not give up a game as well, winning 6-0 in no. 3 doubles. In no. 1 doubles, the venerable team of seniors Hannah Hersh and Sophie Trantham won 6-1.
The winning ways continued in singles play as Spangler (no. 2), Trantham (no. 3), Ore (no. 4) and Zylka (no. 6) all won without losing a game with each taking 8-0 victories.
Hersh took care of LaGrange's Karla Wiley 8-2 in number one singles, while sophomore Ava Thrift won no. 5 singles 8-1 to complete the sweep.
Next up for the BC women's tennis team is the first home match of the year on Saturday, February 22. In the home opener, the Tornados will take on Johnson & Wales at the McCoy Tennis Complex with first serve set for 1 p.m.
