BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College men's tennis team (7-0) continued its undefeated season by winning its home opener 5-2 victory over visiting Johnson & Wales LaGrange (1-3) in a non-conference match on Saturday afternoon at the McCoy Tennis Complex.
Brevard took an early lead with a team point by winning two of three doubles matches to start the day. The number one team of
Hayden LeBlanc and
Bryce Bernitt won 6-3, followed by a 6-4 victory by
Noah Lewis and
Peter Bresko in no. 2 doubles.
Needing three wins in singles play, the Tornados came through by winning four of the six available matches. LeBlanc took care of business with a strong 6-4, 6-1 victory in number one singles.
Ayden Montero continued his excellent work this season with a three-segt win in number three singles.
Freshman
Nathan Bookout won 6-2, 6-3 in number five singles, while senior
Ethan McGee came through with a decisive 6-3, 6-2 result on the number six line.
With the win, the Tornados improve to an undefeated 7-0 on the season that includes 4-0 mark in the Fall 2024 portion of the schedule.
Brevard continues its 2025 spring campaign with a trip to Cleveland, Georgia to take on non-conference foe Truett McConnell on Wednesday, March 5. The USA South Conference opener for the Tornados is set for Saturday, March 15 vs. North Carolina Wesleyan at the McCoy Tennis Complex on the campus of Brevard College.
