FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Brevard College women's lacrosse team (3-4, 2-1 USA South) saw its three-game win stretch snapped at the hands of Methodist University (5-4, 2-0 USAS), 19-3 on Saturday afternoon in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Senior midfielder
Emily Denaga scored two goals, including one free-position make, and junior attacker
Xan Hill added a goal in the effort. BC goalkeeper
Kyla Smith-Fondall totaled 19 saves.
Kelsey Hamrick won a team-high four draw controls, and first-year Tornado
Jayden Rahdert logged two ground balls and a caused turnover in her collegiate debut.
The Monarchs kicked things off with six unanswered goals in the first period before doubling their advantage, 12-0, at the halftime intermission. BC would answer with three goals in the second half, but Methodist scored seven to put the contest away.
Methodist's high-powered offense was propelled by Mikayla Ramos, who scored five goals with four assists for nine points. Maddie Hagler notched a hat trick, while five other Monarchs scored two goals apiece and eight Methodist players scored in the game.
The Tornados are back in action at home next Tuesday, March 18 for another edition of the Ridge Rivalry against Warren Wilson at Ives-Lemel Family Field. First draw is slated for 6 p.m.
