LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - The Brevard College men's tennis team (8-2) dropped only its second match of the 2024-25 season, falling 7-0 to a formidable Covenant College (9-5) squad on Tuesday afternoon at the Covenant Tennis Complex.
Covenant took two of three doubles matches, setting the tone with an early 1-0 match lead. The Scots then swept all six singles matches to complete the 7-0 result.
Doubles action was tight, with the Tornado duo of reigning USA South Rookie of the Week Ayden Montero and Noah Boyles teaming up for a 6-4 triumph at the three-line. Covenant responded with a 6-4 win of its own at the two-spot, putting the doubles point down to the top-flight result. Hayden LeBlanc and Bryce Bernitt teamed up to face Brock Boehling and Graham Hayes. The two sides played to a 6-6 tie, leaving the doubles point up to a tiebreaker. The Scot duo pulled out a narrow 7-5 result to take the final doubles match of the afternoon.
Covenant took five out of the six singles matches via straight-set sweeps. Montero battled down to the wire in his no. 3 singles matchup, coming back from a 6-2 first-set defeat to take the second set, 6-4. In the tiebreaking third set, Jackson Orsega pulled out a 10-6 result to complete Covenant's singles sweep of the Tornados.
Brevard will return to action at home on Saturday, facing Franklin College at 9 a.m. at the McCoy Tennis Complex.
