CARY, N.C. - The Brevard College men's lacrosse team (2-10, 0-5 USA South) battled hard but ultimately fell by six goals, 19-13, to William Peace (4-4, 2-2 USAS) at WakeMed Park in Cary, North Carolina.
Brevard kept within striking distance throughout the contest, battling back from a four-goal deficit late in the third quarter and cut the deficit to one goal at the start of the fourth period. However, the Pacers finished the game on a 6-1 scoring run to close out the contest.
Michael Peters led the way for the Tornados with four goals and two assists for a career-high six points, and grabbed six ground balls defensively. Gage Khayat added four goals for his sixth multi-goal game of 2025. Scott Bundy notched a hat trick of three goals, while freshman Joseph Piazza scored twice and added an assist. Max Dorman caused a team-high four caused turnovers and grabbed seven ground balls, while Jack Hicks stopped 15 shots.
Jamar Bell paced WPU's attack with an eight-point performance (six goals, two assists), while Quinn Acree and Brandon Goad each scored four times with assists. Caleb Trahan had a hat trick of three goals, and William English dished out a game-high four assists with two goals.
Each side scored twice in the first period, with WPU scoring one goal on the power play and another shorthanded. WPU opened the second period with a pair of scores before BC responded with two-straight of its own as Peters and Khayat found the nylon. WPU scored three out of four goals to close the half out and take an 7-5 advantage.
The Pacers picked up where they left off, scoring two goals to begin the third quarter. Each side totaled six goals apiece in the stanza, as Khayat scored three times himself.
With the score in favor of WPU, 13-11 heading into the fourth quarter of play, Bundy scored off a Peters assist to trim the deficit down to one. The Pacers, however, responded with a six-goal run to clinch the conference victory.
Brevard is back in action on Monday, April 7 at 6:30 p.m., taking on Southern Virginia at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
