Hicks Saves School-Record 31 Shots in Bout with SVU

Senior Goalkeeper Sets New Single-Game Mark

BREVARD, N.C. – Senior goalkeeper Jack Hicks denied a total of 31 shots to set a new Brevard College men's lacrosse single-game program record, but the Tornados (2-11, 0-6 USA South) fell short in a 23-4 defeat to Southern Virginia University (7-7, 3-3 USAS) on Monday night at Ives-Lemel Family Field.

Hicks, the program's all-time leader in saves, brought his career total up to 564 with his 31-save output. The Greensboro, North Carolina native has stopped a total of 199 shots this season.

Max Dorman, Brice Peterson, Joseph Piazza, and Matt Smith all scored goals for the Tornados – with Dorman's empty-netter being his first collegiate strike. Scott Bundy and Gage Khayat dished out assists, while Logan Southern collected six ground balls and won seven faceoffs. Braedyn Perez was able to cause a team-high three turnovers as well.

Brevard returns to action on the road this weekend, facing Methodist on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The 2025 season finale is on Friday, April 18 at 1 p.m. at home vs. Pfeiffer
