MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Brevard College baseball team (4-11) rallied late but fell 8-5 to Millsaps College (11-4) on Sunday in the final day of the Firehouse Classic hosted by Huntingdon College.
BC was able to tie things up in the top of the sixth, however a five-run sixth inning from Millsaps turned the tides.
Hunter Busque homered for the first time in his collegiate career, and Hayden Jennings added an RBI double in the top of the ninth to put Brevard within three. Millsaps was able to get the final two outs though, halting the comeback effort by BC.
Busque, Jennings, and Luke Morton all recorded two hits apiece, with Busque and Jennings driving in runs. Caleb Oehler drove his fourth home run for the season - and 19th of his career - out of the ballpark, while Lucas Granata and Frankie Vasquez also recorded an RBI each.
Jordan Searcy (1-4), Jacob Wilde, and Matthew Evans handled the work on the mound for the Tornados, with Evans working a scoreless bottom of the eighth.
Brevard returns to action on Tuesday, traveling to Demorest, Georgia to face Piedmont University at 4 p.m.
