Tornado Football Places School-Record Five into NFF Hampshire Honor Society

Castellanos, Hogan, Shultis, Tinsley, and Winn All Honored by the National Football Foundation

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College football team has earned a school-record five spots into the prestigious NFF Hampshire Honor Society in the 2024-25 academic year.  BC football student-athletes Ian Castellanos, Cooper Hogan, Nikolas Shultis, Jamie Tinsley, and Triston Winn were all selected to the renowned group of college football athletes across all NCAA divisions.
 
Nominated by their respective schools, members of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society must be either a senior player who will graduate this spring/summer, and just completed his final year of playing eligibility in 2023 or a graduated player, who has been out of high school at least (3) years.  Candidates must have attained a minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.2 (4.0 scale); and been starters or significant contributors throughout the 2024 season.
 
Castellanos, a first-year Tornado graduate student tight end from Miami, Florida, saw action in seven games this season, hauling in a touchdown reception in his final game at Ives-Lemel Family Field against Methodist on November 2. Before transferring to BC, Castellanos competed for Monmouth College, and participated in the All-Star Bowl in Miami this winter. Academically, Castellanos is wrapping up his Master's of Business Administration at BC.
 
Hogan, a senior wideout from New London, North Carolina, was a key offensive weapon over his four-year playing career with the Tornados. Hauling in 63 career receptions for 742 total yards and three touchdowns, Hogan also logged 862 kickoff return yards, and competed in 30 career contests for the Tornados. Hogan is a Business and Organizational Leadership major at Brevard. 
 
Shultis, a second-year Tornado defensive lineman hailing from Rutland, Vermont, saw action in 18 games in his two seasons in a Tornado uniform. Shultis totaled 28 total tackles (14 solo, 14 assisted) with 3.5 tackles-for-loss, while also registering a sack and a forced fumble in 2024. Shultis found his way to BC after two years of competing at Newberry College in South Carolina. Shultis is completing his Chemistry degree at BC. 
 
Tinsley, a fourth-year long snapper from Trinity, North Carolina, served as a special-teams mainstay for Brevard over the course of his Tornado career, helping a very productive unit for the Tornados. He is a Physical Education & Recreation major at Brevard. 
 
Winn, a second-year Tornado running back from Yanceyville, North Carolina, made 14 appearances in two seasons with Brevard. A transfer with two years' experience at Guilford College, Winn helped BC's special teams unit out with three tackles in 2024, and also logged 67 yards on the ground on 20 career attempts. Winn in completing his Exercise Science curriculum at BC.
