BREVARD, N.C. - Junior infielder Regan Winkler roped a two-RBI double to put the Brevard College softball team (9-20, 4-14 USA South) over the top in game two of a doubleheader with Methodist University (14-24, 7-11 USAS) on Sunday at the BC Softball Field.
BC closed out its 2025 campaign on a winning note, winning the second contest 3-2 after Methodist pulled out a 3-1 win in game one of the day.
The victory closed out the season for the Tornados, who won their most conference contests since 2021 and battled for postseason position until the final day.
GAME ONE: METHODIST 3, BREVARD 1
Methodist used a two-run fourth inning and grabbed a crucial insurance run in the top of the seventh to propel itself to a game-one triumph.
Addison Smith accounted for BC's lone run of game one, when the freshman raked an RBI double that scored fellow first-year Tornado Addie MacDougall, cutting the deficit to one run.
Methodist was able to hold on, however, overcoming a leadoff single in the bottom of the seventh to clinch game one by two runs.
GAME TWO: BREVARD 3, METHODIST 2
Game two was much more of the same, as the two sides were locked into a pitcher's duel.
Logan Masinsky (4-4) ended her season on a high note, putting forth a complete-game effort allowing just two runs total.
Methodist got the first run across in the top of the first inning with an RBI single, but Analee Morris came through for Brevard in the bottom of the second with an RBI single.
MU answered in the top of the third with a sacrifice fly that put the guests up by one, 2-1. Following three scoreless frames, Winkler came through in the clutch, driving a two-RBI double that allowed MacDougall and Gabby Hooper to score.
Masinsky shut down the Monarchs in the top of the seventh, overcoming a leadoff single with three-consecutive outs to seal the season-finale win.
