Box Score 2 BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College men's and women's tennis teams each fell by 7-0 finals to North Carolina Wesleyan University on a sunny Wednesday afternoon at the McCoy Tennis Complex.
BC's men's squad (9-4, 2-2 USA South), currently ranked 71
st in NCAA DIII as of April 9
th's ITA rankings, ran into the 37
th-ranked Battling Bishops (8-11, 5-0 USAS).
Hayden LeBlanc, a senior from Zachary, Louisiana, competed fiercely at the top-spot in singles but fell 6-4 in the first set. NCW's Diego Segovia was able to counter in set number two with a sweep to finish things off. In the rest of the singles competitions, NCW only dropped four total points en route to the clean sweep.
On the women's side,
Jada Ore – a senior from Madison, North Carolina – battled hard in her number-five singles match against Linda Nhiwatiwa. After falling behind with a 6-4 defeat in the first set, Ore dominated set number two, 6-1, setting up a winner-take-all third set tiebreak. Nhiwatiwa pulled away late with a 10-5 win in the tiebreaker. NCW won in straight sets the rest of the way to clinch the 7-0 match win.
Senior Day Saturday is next up for the Tornados, who will face Methodist at 11 a.m. A special Senior Day ceremony is scheduled for 10:45 a.m., where Brevard will honor its robust 10-member senior class of
