BC Alum Woodbury Named Assistant Athletic Trainer

Former Women's Soccer Student-Athlete Returns with New Role at BC

BREVARD, N.C. – In part of an expanded partnership with UNC Health Pardee, Brevard College Athletics is excited to announce that former Brevard College student-athlete Sarah Woodbury ('22 and '23) returns to serve as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for BC Athletics.

"BC Athletics is thrilled to continue expanding our partnership with UNC Health Pardee in this capacity," commented Associate VP for Athletics Dr. Myranda Nash. "Pardee's continued passion for the health and well-being of our student-athletes has been paramount throughout this partnership, and we are excited to continue this relationship."

Woodbury, a two-time graduate of BC completing her undergraduate work in May of 2022 with a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science with minors in Coaching and Business & Organizational Leadership, was also a part of the first Health & Human Performance Master's degree class, completing her graduate work at BC in May, 2023. Woodbury then pursued her Master's in Athletic Training this past Spring from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

"After spending time pursuing a career towards Division I football, I'm excited to be back at an NCAA DIII institution aligned with my goals as an Athletic Trainer," commented Woodbury. "I'm happy to be at a place where competing collegiately has a greater meaning and impact, and I'm looking forward to working alongside the Brevard community again!"

Woodbury began her work in the Athletic Training field during her undergraduate time at Brevard, serving as an Athletic Training intern during the 2021-22 academic year, working a full football season before becoming BC's football-specific AT intern in the Fall of 2022.

While completing her master's degree at Utah, Woodbury completed several AT clinical rotations, starting with Utah football's fall camp in 2023. She then went on to work with several organizations across Salt Lake City, including West High School, Judge Memorial Catholic High School, University Orthopedic Center, and the Utah Warriors  - a professional rugby team.

Following her rotations in Salt Lake City, Woodbury began her first Immersion Clinical Rotation with the University of Texas football program throughout the Fall of 2024 – a campaign that included a trip to the College Football Playoff for the Longhorns. There, Woodbury worked alongside four Certified Athletic Trainers while gaining power-4 football experience. Day-to-day duties for Woodbury included evaluating athletes, implementing tailored maintenance and rehab programs, and engaging in care for athletes to help them perform at their best.

Following her time in Austin, Texas, Woodbury returned to her alma mater, Charles D. Owen High School in nearby Black Mountain, North Carolina, to complete her final Immersion Clinical Rotation. There, Woodbury was fully immersed in taking control over the day-to-day operations of the athletic training room and operations for the end of winter sports season and the entirety of the spring sports season.

A four-year women's soccer student-athlete at BC, Woodbury was selected to the Dean's list at BC a total of six times. She served as an RA for two years at Brevard, was named USA South Academic All-Conference with distinction in 2022, and earned USA South Academic All-Conference in 2021. Woodbury was a student member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) since her junior year at BC, and was also a part of the Tri-Beta Biology Honor Society.
