Robert Dorsey Named a Preseason All-American by D3football.com

Second Preseason All-America Accolade for Tornados Since Joining DIII

BREVARD, N.C. - Brevard College senior defensive lineman Robert Dorsey has been selected to the D3football.com All-America Third Team ahead of the start of the 2025 campaign.

Dorsey becomes just the second Tornado in the NCAA DIII era to garner Preseason All-America accolades (Joc Pledger, 2021).

Dorsey, a Charlotte, North Carolina native entering his third season in a Tornado uniform, comes into 2025 after a sensational junior campaign that saw him earn Defensive Player of the Year honors from the USA South Conference. Over the course of the 2024 season, Dorsey led the conference with 11.5 sacks which resulted in a loss of 71 yards. This was a part of 14 total tackles for loss which also was the highest amongst the league. Dorsey was tied for the USA South-high with three forced fumbles to go along with seven quarterback hurries. For Dorsey during league-play, he was tied for the conference-lead in sacks with six and totaled eight total tackles for loss.

Dorsey earned First Team All-Conference honors as a defensive lineman for the second consecutive season and grabbed USA South Defensive Player of the Week honors once. Dorsey's 11.5 sacks matched a single-season school record as well (Steffon Canady, 2021).

Over the course of his two years at BC, Dorsey has accumulated 85 total tackles (41 solo, 44 assisted), has racked up 25.5 TFL, 16.5 sacks, and eight forced fumbles. Dorsey also led the entire nation in forced fumbles-per-game in the 2023 season.

Training camp is underway for the Tornados on the campus of BC, as Brevard steadily prepares for its 2025 season opener on Saturday, September 6 at 1 p.m. as the Tornados host Kentucky Christian University at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
