The victory marked the Tornados' first over the Avenging Angels in program history. The teams had drawn their first four meetings.
With the win, Brevard extended its unbeaten streak to 24 matches, dating to the end of the 2023 season. The Tornados also pushed their home unbeaten streak to 23 matches since Oct. 15, 2022. Through six contests in 2025, Brevard has outscored opponents 38-0 and has yet to allow a goal in 540 minutes of play. Overall, the Tornados have not surrendered a goal in the last 763 minutes, 5 seconds, dating to Oct. 30, 2024.
Senior forward
Mikayla Zvekan scored her sixth goal of the season in the 17th minute off an assist by sophomore midfielder
Brennan Howell. The Youngsville, North Carolina, native dispossessed the Avenging Angels and played Zvekan through for a one-on-one score, putting BC ahead 1-0. Brevard carried that lead into halftime with a 9-3 shot advantage and a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
After 18 scoreless minutes, sophomore forward
Kinlee Mozley provided the Tornados with insurance when she won a battle with Meredith's keeper for a header off
Mikaela Edwards' cross in the 65th minute. The goal was Mozley's eighth in six games this season.
Junior keeper
Abby Nunez made four saves in a 90-minute shutout. The reigning USA South Defender of the Week earned her fourth win of 2025, her second solo shutout of the season and the 12th of her career.
Brevard returns to action next week with two conference road matches: at Greensboro College on Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. and at William Peace University on Sept. 27 at 2 p.m. The Tornados close September with a nonconference home match against Oglethorpe University on Sept. 29 at 5 p.m.
