BREVARD, N.C. – Following Brevard College's dramatic, come-from-behind 38-34 win over NCAA DII Erskine College last Saturday at Ives-Lemel Family Field, two Tornados were selected as USA South Conference Athletes of the Week.
Senior quarterback
Ethan Beamish was selected as the USA South Offensive Player of the Week, while freshman kicker
Hayden Vandegriff secured Special Teams Player of the Week accolades.
Beamish, BC's all-time leader in passing yards and passing touchdowns, had a career day in BC's comeback effort against Erskine. The third-year Tornado signal caller went 20-for-32 passing for a career-best 345 yards and four touchdowns, connecting with WR
Reggie Taylor II twice for scores and finding
Adam Douglas with a 77-yard bomb. Beamish's biggest throw of the day, however, was in the final seconds of the game as Beamish found
Jordan Barnett for a game-winning 19-yard strike to lift the Tornados past the Flying Fleet.
Through three games in 2025, Beamish has recorded 579 yards with seven touchdown passes to zero interceptions, completing 64% of his passes (43-for-67). For his historic Tornado career, Beamish has accumulated 5,369 passing yards and 55 touchdown passes.
Vandegriff, a first-year kicker from Sautee Nacoochee, Georgia making just his second collegiate appearance, went a perfect 5-for-5 on extra-point attempts, and also drilled a 30-yard field goal to account for eight total points in BC's winning effort. Vandegriff is 8-for-8 on extra-point attempts, and is 2-for-3 on field goals in two collegiate contests.
The Tornados enjoy a bye week before opening up USA South play on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 12 p.m. ET/11 a.m. CT in Jackson, Mississippi at Belhaven.
