BREVARD, N.C. – Pfeiffer University (6-9, 3-3 USA South) earned a straight-set road victory over the Brevard College volleyball team (3-12, 1-3 USAS), winning 25-18, 25-17, 25-21 on Tuesday night at Boshamer Gymnasium.
For Brevard,
Caroline Moon paced the Tornados with 13 kills and 11 digs, recording her sixth double-double of the season.
Malahna Hoyle posted four kills and a block, while setter
Izzy Boulay handed out 18 assists to go with eight digs. Libero
Lili White collected 19 digs to lead the defensive effort, with
Abigail Kelly adding 10 digs.
The Falcons' balanced attack was led by Madison Tate, who tallied 12 kills on a .421 hitting percentage and added two blocks. Anasty Faavesi chipped in eight kills, while Gabi Gama and Haedyn McGrath added six apiece. Setter Karmen Rion guided the offense with 18 assists and contributed nine digs, while libero Gabby Edwards anchored the back row with a match-high 17 digs.
Pfeiffer hit .169 as a team while holding Brevard to just .089. The Falcons closed each set strong, using late runs to pull away in the first two frames before withstanding a late Tornado push in the third.
Brevard will look to bounce back with more USA South action this weekend, as the Tornados head east for a USA South tri-match at N.C. Wesleyan in Rocky Mount. BC first faces the host Battling Bishops at 12 p.m. before taking on Southern Virginia at 2 p.m.
