BREVARD, N.C. – Freshman running back
Marvin Reed Jr. and senior defensive lineman
Abdulmalik Sholanke each earned weekly honors from the USA South Conference after Brevard College Football's 27-26 triumph on the road at Southern Virginia last Saturday.
Reed Jr. secured his second-straight Offensive Rookie of the Week accolade, while Sholanke was named Special Teams Player of the Week.
Reed Jr., a first-year Tornado from Cornelius, North Carolina, scored all four Tornado touchdowns last week in a 27-26 victory at USA South foe Southern Virginia. Reed Jr. carried the ball 22 times for 184 yards while also catching one pass for seven yards. The freshman's four rushing touchdowns marked a single-game DIII-era record at Brevard, and were the most in a single game by any Tornado since 2013.
Sholanke, a native of Seymour, Tennessee, blocked a third quarter point-after-touchdown attempt which proved to be the difference in a 27-26 win at USA South foe Southern Virginia last week. He also added five total tackles, including two for a loss, and one sack in the victory.
Reed Jr., Sholanke, and the rest of the unbeaten BC football team gear up for their Homecoming showdown with LaGrange on Saturday at 2 p.m.
