Tornados Receiving Votes in AFCA Top 25 for Second Straight Week

AFCA Poll Link

BREVARD, N.C. - For the second consecutive week, the Brevard College football program is receiving votes in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) National DIII Top 25 Poll.

The Tornados are receiving eight total votes in the tabulation. The AFCA poll is one of two national polls recognized by the NCAA for Division III, alongside the D3football.com Top 25 Poll

BC, who is off to just the second 5-0 start in program history, looks to improve to 6-0 for the first time ever this coming Saturday as the Tornados take on LaGrange at 2 p.m. for BC's Homecoming.

Brevard has been nothing short of dominant through the early portion of the season, winning four games by double digits including a pair of 40-plus point victories before a tight 27-26 triumph on the road last weekend at Southern Virginia. BC leaned on its stellar rushing attack to pull out the hard-fought road win.

Freshman running back and reigning two-time USA South Offensive Rookie of the Week Marvin Reed Jr. set a new single-game DIII-era record with four rushing touchdowns, the most for any Tornado in a single contest since 2013 (Jordan Ollis). Reed Jr. toted the rock 22 times for a career-best 184 yards, and scored three of his four touchdowns in the second quarter as Brevard outscored SVU 21-0. Zion Fauntleroy-McDaniel added 94 yards on 21 carries.

Brevard, who came into the contest with a top-10 rushing attack in all of Division III, notched its fifth game with over 200 rushing yards, while securing its fourth four-plus rushing touchdown performance as a team.

Through five games in 2026, BC is averaging a league-best 40.6 points per game, while allowing a league-low 12.4 ppg. LaGrange is second in both of those categories, setting up a big-time matchup on Saturday.

Reed Jr. (96.8 ypg) and Fauntleroy-McDanjel (96 ypg) are 1-2 in the USA South for rushing yards, with Reed Jr. far and away leading the conference with nine rushing touchdowns. On the defensive side, DJ Stevenson leads all players in the conference with four interceptions.

BC is currently just one of 25 teams across NCAA DIII who have yet to drop a contest in 2026.
