BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College women's soccer team (9-1-3) recorded its ninth shutout of 2026 with a 1-0 victory over Bob Jones (3-5-3) on Wednesday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
The result extends BC's incredible unbeaten streak at home to 38 matches, dating back to Oct. 15, 2022.
Brevard dominated the first half, firing a total of 17 shot attempts with six being on-target. In the final minute of the frame, Natalie DeBella lined up a corner kick that found MK Smoak, who sent the ball into the back of the net to give the Tornados the 1-0 lead just before halftime.
The strike marked the first career goal for Smoak, the senior center back from Charleston, South Carolina. Smoak has served as a core piece of the stellar Brevard defense that has totaled 46 shutouts in games that Smoak has appeared in.
Smoak's score was all the offense that Brevard needed on Wednesday, as the Tornados held the Bruins without a single shot attempt through the match, while BC fired 24 shots off, including 10 on target. Margaret Provenzano stopped nine shots to keep BJU in the contest.
Maddy Loranger and Mikayla Rubin led the Tornados with four shots apiece, with Rubin and Janie Steele putting a team-high two shots on target apiece.
BC returns to USA South Conference play on Saturday, traveling to Rocky Mount, North Carolina to take on NC Wesleyan at 2 p.m.
