BREVARD, N.C. – Brevard College sophomore defensive specialist Gianna Borcich was selected as the USA South Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

The honor marks BC's second weekly nod of the season, as Borcich joins teammate Bailey Blackmon who earned Rookie of the Week honors earlier in the campaign.

Borcich, a second-year Tornado from Denver, North Carolina, averaged 6.88 digs and 1.13 assists per set as the Tornados posted a 1-1 record last week against USA South foes (win over Pfeiffer and a loss to William Peace). Borcich posted week match-highs of 34 digs, marking a career-high, and six assists.

Appearing in all 24 matches with 93 sets played in 2026, Borcich has recorded 351 digs, averaging 3.77 digs per set.

The Tornados face Salem in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Tuesday at 6 pm. before returning for a USA South tri-match on Friday beginning at noon at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
