CHAMPS!!! Brevard Clinches First USA South Regular Season Title with Senior Day Triumph

BC Earns Top Seed in 2026 USA South Conference Tournament

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College women's basketball team (21-4, 16-2 USA South) captured the program's first USA South Conference Regular Season Championship, defeating NC Wesleyan (14-10, 12-6 USAS) 75-67 on Senior Day Saturday at the Boshamer Gymnasium.

The win put Brevard in a tie atop the USA South standings with Southern Virginia (16-2), clinching a share of the regular season crown. By virtue of Brevard's undefeated record in 2025-26 over both NC Wesleyan and Pfeiffer, the Tornados claim the tiebreaker and the top overall seed in the 2026 USA South Conference Women's Basketball Tournament.

Prior to the start of Saturday's matchup, four Brevard College seniors - Olivia Miller. Schuyler Pettibone, Jada Petty-Wilkins, and Christena Rhone - were honored in a special pre-game ceremony.

The win sets new NCAA-era single-season records for most overall wins (21), regular-season wins (21), and conference wins (16) for Head Coach Donald Hudson's squad. Brevard has claimed seven-straight victories and has won 15 of its last 16 games.

Brevard's defensive effort was the feature of the matchup, as BC forced 29 turnovers with a season-high 20 steals. The Tornados created 32 points off Battling Bishop mistakes.

Miller was a huge factor in Brevard's triumph, scoring a game-high 17 points to go along with 10 rebounds, six assists, and six steals - taking the lead on BC's dominant defensive performance. The Hudson, N.C. senior hit seven of her 10 field goal attempts and drilled all three free throws. Fellow senior Petty-Wilkins scored 15 with two 3-pointers, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Sophomore guard Analee Morris hit four field goals en route to an 11-point effort, and Rhone added eight points and four assists with two made 3-pointers. Aleysha Hill (six points), Kennedie Noble (seven points), and Malayka Rankin (eight points) all made critical efforts off the bench to help the Tornados shut the door on the victory.

NCWU was led by Dorinda Jordan, who scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Anaya Hill added 13 off the bench, while Alexandria Belton scored 10.

Brevard got off to a terrific start, smothering NCWU in a 23-6 first period. BC led by as many as 20 in the second quarter, with the Tornados carrying a 37-21 lead into the intermission.

BC kept control of the game in the third period, fending off a late Batting Bishop rally to maintain a 59-46 edge. NC Wesleyan rallied early in the fourth, trimming the deficit down to five points, 61-56, but the Tornados held tough, pulling away late for the 75-67 win.

No. 1 Brevard opens up USA South Tournament play with first-round action next Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. against no. 8 Meredith.
