Morris Takes Over in Epic Third Quarter as Brevard Defeats Meredith in First Round

Sophomore Guard Sets New BC NCAA-Era Single-Game Scoring Record

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College women's basketball team (22-4) found itself down by one at the intermission to no. 8 seed Meredith (7-16), but sophomore guard Analee Morris scored 21 of Brevard's 31 third-quarter points as the Tornados took down the Avenging Angels, 83-61 in the first round of the 2026 USA South Conference Tournament at the Boshamer Gymnasium.

Morris, a second-year Tornado from Rockmart, Georgia, set a new single-game NCAA-era record for points, putting up 39 on 15-of-25 from the field with six made 3-pointers and three free throws. Morris' scoring mark surpasses the previous single-game high set by former All-American Madison Lenox (36 points on Nov. 15, 2025 vs. Claflin). Morris also snagged six boards, dished out three assists, and wrangled three steals.

Brevard turned the tide in the third quarter, going 11-of-20 from the field and 6-of-11 from long distance to make up for a 30.6% mark in the first half. The Tornados outscored the Avenging Angels 31-13 in the third period and carried that momentum through the fourth period to clinch the win.

Fellow sophomore forward Kayden Johnson recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while senior forward Olivia Miller added seven points, six boards, and six dimes. Aleysha Hill hit a pair of 3-pointers off the bench, and Kennedie Noble also canned a crucial third-quarter three to help the Tornados extend their lead.

The Tornados ended the game with 12 made 3-pointers and forced Meredith into 21 total turnovers, capitalizing with 22 points off turnovers. Brevard finished with 20 assists, marking its 11th game this season with 20 or more dimes distributed.

Tuesday's win gives the Tornados their eighth consecutive win, matching the season and program's NCAA-era long win streak of eight games set earlier this season. The 83-61 result over Meredith is Brevard's 16th victory in the last 17 contests. BC has now won 19 of its 22 games in the 2025-26 season by double digits and has secured 14 wins by 20 points or more.

USA South Conference Tournament action rolls on as no. 1 Brevard hosts no. 5 William Peace on Thursday at 7 p.m. at The Bosh in the semifinals.
