Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Successful Spring Break Trip to Hilton Head Island for BC Men’s Tennis

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - Brevard College men's tennis posted a strong showing during its spring trip to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, earning three wins across a five-match stretch against a competitive slate of nonconference opponents.

The Tornados opened the trip on March 8 with a 5-0 victory over Immaculata. Brevard secured the doubles point behind wins from Ayden Montero and Noah Boyles at No. 1 and Caelan Byrd and David Hoyle at No. 2, then swept four singles matches in straight sets. Montero earned a decisive win at No. 1 singles, while Hoyle, Nathan Bookout and Alexander Voss also posted singles victories as Brevard cruised to the shutout.

Two days later, the Tornados turned in their most complete performance of the trip with a 7-0 win over Curry. Brevard again swept doubles play to take an early lead and followed with six singles wins. Montero, Boyles, Bookout, Voss and Connor Sechrist each won in straight sets, while Caelan Byrd picked up a win by default at No. 6 to close out the match.

Brevard capped its time on the island with a 5-2 victory over Franciscan on March 13. The Tornados won one doubles match before clinching the contest in singles play, taking four of six matches. Montero earned a win at No. 1 singles after his opponent retired, while Boyles, Bookout, Voss and Sechrist all delivered straight-set victories to secure the match.

In addition to the three wins, Brevard also faced a pair of tough setbacks during the trip, falling 6-0 to Chowan and 7-0 to Rhodes.

Across the five matches, the Tornados showcased depth throughout the lineup, particularly in singles play, while using the Hilton Head trip to gain valuable experience ahead of conference action. Brevard will look to carry the momentum from its three victories forward as the spring season continues.
