GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Brevard College baseball team (7-5) surrendered three multi-run innings to the Guilford Quakers (7-4) in an 18-5 road loss on Wednesday afternoon at McBane Field.
Brevard scored five runs on 10 hits, and surrendered 12 hits to Guilford batters. However, nine walk by the BC pitching staff helped the Quakers score 18 runs in the lopsided decision.
Davis Anders, Moe Love Jr., and Gavin McCoy each registered two-hit performances and logged doubles in the contest, with Love Jr. - the reigning USA South Rookie of the Week - driving in a team-high two runs.
The Tornados scored the game's first run off a Guilford error in the top of the second. The Quakers responded with a six-run spot in the bottom-half of the inning to take a 6-1 lead.
Tyson Hinkle drove in Anders on a fielder's choice before Love Jr. laced a two-RBI double into left field, cutting the deficit down to a two-run margin, 6-4.
Guilford answered with four runs in the bottom of the third, highlighted by a three-run homer. Logan Sawyer knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly, but the Quakers put the game away for good with an eight-spot in the bottom of the sixth.
BC returns home on Sunday to face Penn State Scranton in a doubleheader beginning at noon at Gil Coan Field.
