GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Brevard College baseball team (16-23, 5-16 USA South) fell in all three contests to USA South Conference Regular Season Champion Greensboro (24-15, 16-5 USAS) over the weekend at Ted Leonard Park.
The Tornados dropped a tight result in game one, 5-2, before falling to the Pride in a 20-2 decision and an 18-10 result to close out the 2026 season.

Gavin Grant,
Jonathan Germany,
Gavin McCoy,
Juan Perez,
Logan Sawyer, and
Greg Simmons.
GAME ONE: GREENSBORO 5, BREVARD 2
After a scoreless first, the Pride got on the board first off an error by the Tornados in the bottom of the second. BC was able to respond in the top of the fourth as
Andrew Bernard roped a single to left field that pushed
Davis Anders across.
Greensboro would not be denied in the bottom of the fourth as the Pride retook the lead thanks to an RBI single. Another GC RBI single in the bottom of the fifth put the hosts up by two, but Brevard was able to slice the deficit in half with a
Nico Bartolotti sacrifice fly that brought
Gavin Grant in.
The hosts were able to tack on a pair of critical insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh, and despite a two-out ninth-inning single by
Logan Sawyer, shut the Tornados down to clinch the three-run victory.
Grant,
Tyson Hinkle,
Logan Sawyer, and
Kacey Shanks all recorded two hits apiece, while
Colin Weathers,
Kalen Milstead, and
Aaron Burchett] all got work on the mound for BC.
GAME TWO: GREENSBORO 20, BREVARD 2 (7 INNINGS)
An eight-run bottom of the first plagued the Tornados in game two, as Greensboro used a 16-0 scoring run in the second game of Friday's doubleheader to clinch the series.
BC was able to get on the board in the top of the fifth as
Gavin McCoy notched a two-RBI single to right field that pushed across Bernard and Sawyer.
The senior duo of McCoy and Sawyer each went 2-for-3 at the dish, while Sawyer and
Austin Ogles stole bases.
GAME THREE: GREENSBORO 18, BREVARD 10
A high-scoring series finale went Greensboro's way despite a hot start offensively for the Tornados. BC opened up an 8-1 lead thanks to an impressive seven-run third inning, but the Pride were able to respond, putting up five runs in the fourth and six in the fifth to take a 12-9 advantage. GC outscored BC 6-1 down the stretch to wrap up the eight-run victory.
Brevard recorded 14 total base hits in the series finale.
Adam Newcomb went 3-for-4 to lead the offense while Hinkle and McCoy logged two base knocks apiece. A total of 10 Tornados recorded hits in the contest, and uniquely, Sawyer played all nine positions defensively on the diamond, signifying his utility presence throughout his collegiate career.
The defeats brought 2026 to a conclusion for the Tornados. BC began the season with a 6-0 record, its best start to a season in the NCAA era.
