BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Southern Virginia in USA South Conference play on Wednesday afternoon at the McCoy Tennis Complex.
 
The Tornados (7-9, 1-2 USA South) faced an early deficit after Southern Virginia swept all three doubles matches to claim the opening point. Brevard's top duo of Ayden Montero and Noah Boyles pushed their No. 1 match to a tiebreak but ultimately fell 7-6, while the visitors secured close wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions to take a 1-0 lead.
 
Brevard found its lone point of the match at No. 1 singles, where Montero delivered a strong performance with a straight-set victory over Tracen Karrasch, 6-0, 6-2.
 
Southern Virginia responded by winning the remaining five singles matches in straight sets to close out the contest. Noah Boyles, Nathan Bookout, Alexander Voss, Caelan Byrd, and Connor Sechrist all competed for the Tornados on Wednesday.
 
BC returns to play on Friday with a 2 p.m. trip to NCAA DII Mars Hill University in Mars Hill, N.C.
