BREVARD, N.C. - Brevard College graduate forward Guilherme Barcelos and freshman goalkeeper Soren Deweer earned weekly awards from the USA South Conference following an undefeated week for the Tornado men's soccer team.
Barcelos was named Rookie of the Week, while Deweer took home Defender of the Week honors.
Barcelos, a graduate student in his first year of collegiate soccer, scored twice with two assists in a 2-0 week for the Tornados. In a 3-1 win over Spalding, Barcelos was in on all three Brevard scores as he tallied one goal and two assists. In a 2-1 victory at Centre, Barcelos scored the first goal of the match in the seventh minute. Barcelos, a native of Osasco, Brazil, was also named to the All-Tournament Team at the 37th Annual Bob Allen Nissan Classic.
Deweer, a Grand Baie, Mauritius freshman goalkeeper helped the Tornados to a 2-0 record last week. In 180 total minutes played, Deweer allowed two total goals with 15 total saves. The wins came over Spalding (3-1, 2 saves) and Centre (2-1, 13 saves).
Brevard will host its first home match of 2026 on Saturday at 3 p.m. vs. Berea.
