BREVARD, N.C. - Trailing two sets to one, the Brevard College volleyball team (4-7, 1-0 USA South) stormed back to open USA South play with a five-set victory, outlasting North Carolina Wesleyan (4-7, 0-2 USAS), 3-2 (25-23, 24-26, 23-25, 25-19, 17-15) on Saturday at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
 
The highly-competitive match featured 32 total tied scores and 15 lead changes throughout the five-set thriller. The victory gives BC nine-consecutive triumphs over NCWU.
 
Caroline Moon powered the Tornados with a match-high 17 kills and added 22 digs, while Bailey Blackmon delivered one of her strongest performances of the season, posting 14 kills, four solo blocks and two block assists, helping Brevard control the net throughout the final two sets.
 
Setter Izzy Boulay kept Brevard's offense steady with a double-double of 23 assists and 18 digs, while fellow setter Madison Warren added 21 assists. Libero Gianna Borcich anchored the back row with 18 digs, part of Brevard's 93-dig defensive effort.
 
After dropping the second and third sets, Brevard forced a decisive fifth by hitting .114 in the fourth and holding the Battling Bishops to 19 points. In the final frame, the Tornados produced 12 kills and hit .179 to close out the comeback.
 
N.C. Wesleyan was led by Ashley Hinton's 12 kills and 12 digs, while Savannah Banks added 11 kills. Setter Emilee Wilson posted a match-high 40 assists and 19 digs.
 
The Tornados hit the road on Wednesday, September 23 at 6 p.m. to face Pfeiffer in Misenheimer, North Carolina.
