BREVARD, N.C. – Brevard College freshman place kicker Alex Araneda has been named USA South Conference Special Teams Player of the Week following BC's 27-14 triumph over NCAA DII Erskine last Saturday.
 
Araneda, a first-year Tornado from Montclair, California, connected on two of three field goals and both point-after-touchdown attempts in a 27-14 win over Erskine last week. Araneda was good from 35 and 25 yards out on the day. His first field goal make came towards the end of the first half and gave the Tornados the lead for good.
 
Araneda's powerful leg has been on display through the first two contests of 2026, totaling 13 touchbacks on 15 total kickoffs. Araneda is perfect (3-for-3) on PATs in addition to his two made field goals in 2026. Araneda has averaged 65.7 yards per kickoff in 2026.
 
The Tornados wrap up non-conference action on Saturday at 6 p.m., traveling to face Guilford in Greensboro, North Carolina.
