Juwan Owens is entering his first season with the Brevard College football program, serving as the Passing Game Coordinator and Safeties Coach. Owens played collegiately at Southern Virginia University (D3) playing in four games as a true freshman at corner and special teams in 2013. Owens transferred and graduated from Limestone College (D2) in 2016, playing cornerback briefly for the Saints.
Owens has an extensive teaching and coaching background, most recently at Greenville High School (Greenville, SC) as the Special Teams Coordinator/ Defensive Backs Coach in 2024.
Owens helped guide the Morehead State University Eagle Cornerbacks in 2022. Helping the special team units which led the nation in blocked kicks.
Owens previously worked at Calhoun Falls (S.C.) Charter School, where he served as head football and head baseball coach. Owens helped guide a pair of all-state honorees at linebacker and defensive back.
During the COVID-19 season in 2020-21, he served as defensive backs at Gardner-Webb, coaching a Second-Team All-Big South honoree.
Owens was the defensive coordinator and special teams coach at Dakota College at Bottineau (N.D.) in the 2019 season. His units earned three junior college All-American honors, while the defense ranked third in the nation in forced turnovers. He coached four First-Team All-Division athletes.
As the running backs coach at Scott's Branch (S.C.) High School in 2018, Owens led a 1,000-yard rusher. He also mentored the defensive backs, who collected 10 interceptions. He helped one player reach all-state status and also was an assistant track and field coach where three athletes earned all-state accolades.
He began his coaching foray at Gaffney (S.C.) High School in 2015 and 2016, where he helped coach a 1,000-yard rusher and an all-state pick each season.
Owens has one son Ayden Figueroa. He currently resides in Charlotte, NC. Owens graduated with his bachelor's degree in 2016 from Limestone (S.C.). He earned his Master's Degree from Southern Nazarene (Okla.) in 2021.
