Cameron Hayward has been selected as the Head Coach of Brevard College men's lacrosse, announced Associate Vice President for Athletics Dr. Myranda Crews.

"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Hayward to Brevard College and are confident that he is the right leader to take our men's lacrosse program to the next level," said Dr. Crews. "From the beginning of this process, Coach Hayward stood out for his vision for the program, his commitment to developing student-athletes, and his understanding of what it means to build a strong culture. We believe he will bring tremendous energy and leadership to our team, while helping our student-athletes grow both on and off the field. We are excited about the future of Brevard men's lacrosse under his leadership."

Hayward joins Brevard after serving as Assistant Coach at Mars Hill University, where he implemented comprehensive cultural, defensive, transitional, and goaltending systems that produced immediate, measurable results. Under his guidance, the Lions decreased goals against by 57 goals, lowered their goals-against average by 3 goals, and improved team save percentage by 10% from the previous season. His impact extended beyond systems and statistics, as Hayward played a central role in elevating team discipline, preparation, and competitive identity.

"First and foremost, I would like to thank Dr. Crews and the amazing staff at Brevard for this opportunity to elevate this program to new heights," commented Coach Hayward. "I am excited to devote myself to a team with so much potential and thrilled to be a part of a community that is so supportive of its student-athletes!"

Prior to Mars Hill, Hayward spent five seasons at Saint Anselm College, helping lead the Hawks to four NCAA Division II Tournament appearances, including a historic Final Four berth. During his tenure, he coached the 2021 C. Markland Kelly Jr. National Goalkeeper of the Year, developed multiple All-Americans and All-Conference honorees, and contributed to two NE10 Conference Finals runs. His selection as a USILA North/South All-Star Coach in 2022 further underscores his national reputation for excellence.

Hayward also brings extensive experience in player development and program leadership through roles with the NH Tomahawks, where he served as Director overseeing coaching operations, development pathways, and recruiting education for high-school athletes, as well as with Pro Lacrosse Camps, where he instructed youth players in advanced techniques, leadership, and foundational skills. His coaching career began at Hollis Brookline High School, where he helped establish a long-term development culture rooted in team chemistry and game IQ.

A standout NCAA Division III goalkeeper at Mount Ida College, Hayward was a four-year starter, team captain, and team MVP who set multiple school records - including 230 single-season saves, 758 career saves, and 44 career wins - while earning two GNAC All-Conference selections and leading his team to two conference finals. He holds a Master of Science in Sport Management from Southern New Hampshire University.

Coach Hayward currently lives in Forest City, North Carolina, with his girlfriend Mia Tsoukalas and their three beagles — Max, Ida, and Chimi. He is the youngest son of Karen and Roy Hayward, and has three older brothers: Colin, Cory, and Conor.
