HARTSEVILLE, S.C. - The Brevard College men's tennis dropped a 6-3 decision to Coker on Saturday afternoon during South Atlantic Conference (SAC) action. The Tornados fall to 4-8 overall and 0-6 in the SAC while the Cobras improve to 3-10 and 1-3.
Rory Northam and Christoph Plasa each earned wins. Northam defeated Felix Schweyer after dropping the first set 6-2. He came back and won the second set 7-6 (7-2), before winning the third-set tiebreaker, 11-9. Plasa picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win in the fifth singles spot over Zach Grooms.
Nathan Sabate and George Finch won the lone doubles match for Brevard, 8-6, over Mark Watt and Schweyer. Grooms and Dominic Allan defeated Plasa and Richie Liell in a tight match in the third doubles match, 9-8 (7-4).
David Taggart was defeated 6-1, 7-5 in the top singles slot by William Marrafao while Finch lost in the second slot to Simon Bergbom, 6-2, 6-3.
Sabate was defeated in a close match at No. 3 singles to Watt, 6-4, 6-4 while Allan defeated Liell in the sixth singles slot, 6-1, 6-0.
The Tornados will look to win their first conference match of the season when they host Lincoln Memorial on Monday afternoon. Matches are set to begin at 2 p.m.
